Like Lazarus rising from the dead, John Winston Pretzel (1980- ) has been playing drums for thirteen years. The son of Anita and Saul Thomas Pretzel, Johnny has been the axis of whatever there was to be an axis of for as long as anyone can remember. Leaving his day job as a poet, Pretzel joined up with Five and Fabulous in We'll Save Australia as drummer and axis. His windmilling arms are reminiscent of both Keith Moon and a windmill. Pretzel claims to keep time like "the pacemaker of a man unexpectedly making love to a beautiful woman one-fifth his age," a claim backed by leading experts in the field. He is currently on sabbatical in Australia.
